Over $5 trillion dollars in extra debt, that’s madness.

Welcome to VoteFacts.  Back before Barack Obama became president, his adviser David Axelrod said this about our nation's fiscal trajectory,

"I think denial is saying we're conservatives, let's go after, maybe we can run up the deficit another $3 trillion dollars in the next 4 years.  That's not conservatism, that's madness, and I think the American people did not sign on for those kinds of policies."

First, we are assuming that because he said $3 trillion dollars, Axelrod is almost certainly speaking of our nation's debt, not the deficit.  With that, we wonder if our readers think the American people did sign on to the kinds of policies that increased our nation's debt by over $5 trillion dollars in less than 4 years.

According to the Treasury website, total public debt outstanding has increased by more than $5 trillion dollars less than 4 years.

Okay, so under the leadership of Barack Obama, our national debt has grown quite a bit faster than under his predecessor.  What do you think, is that madness?
